Yummi Three Berry Smoothie

Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

To make a really great smoothie is easy and quick, especially when you blend the different elements perfectly together.

Choose Your Fruit

We have chosen raspberries, blackberries, strawberries and bananas as our base for this recipe. However, you can choose any combination of your choice.

You can use pineapple, banana, blueberries, peaches, mangoes or any of your favourite fruits.

Use approximately 3 cups of fruit.

Fresh or Frozen Fruit?

It is preferable to use frozen fruits for a smoothy because it usually blends thicker than fresh fruits. It also gives you a very cold smoothie, if that is what you prefer. You can even put your fresh fruit in the freezer for 30 minutes and add a cup of ice and blend until smooth.

Choose Your Liquid

Almond milk is great for the added nutty flavor, but coconut milk pairs well with a tropical smoothie and gives a richer, creamier flavor. Whole milk or fruit juice also work well. 1 1/4 cup of liquid makes the perfect consistency for our preference. If you skipped the thickener, use less liquid as well.

Want a Thicker Smoothie?

You can use yogurt, kefir, almond butter or any other options you like. It is recommended you use approximately 1/2 cup. If you prefer thinner smoothies, you can either lessen the amount of thickener or skip it all together.

Add Some Extras for a Healthy Twist

We add some spinach or kale for additional nutrition or flax seeds for omega-3.

Adding almonds for additional protein can also make your smoothie thicker and more filling.

Flavors like fresh mint, vanilla extract, cinnamon, turmeric or honey will take any smoothie to the next level.
